Southern butter rolls

Southern Butter Rolls are a “lost” heirloom dessert. If you’ve never had one, imagine a cinnamon roll’s cozy cousin, but instead of cinnamon and icing, it’s swimming in a sweet, golden, nutmeg-spiced milk gravy.

The magic happens in the oven: the biscuit-like pastry rolls soak up the sweetened milk, creating a texture that is crispy on top and pillowy-soft (almost like a dumpling) on the bottom.
