Our Amish neighbors brought this to every potluck for decades. My family finally got the recipe and it is life changing!.

  1. Prepare the potatoes – Wash and cube the potatoes into evenly sized pieces.
  2. Layer ingredients – Place potatoes in the slow cooker, sprinkle with ranch seasoning, and drizzle melted butter over the top.
  3. Add the creamy ingredient – Spoon cream cheese or sour cream throughout the potatoes.
  4. Finish with cheese – Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over everything.
  5. Cook – Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the potatoes are tender and flavorful.
  6. Serve warm – Stir gently before serving. Enjoy alongside roast chicken, pork chops, grilled sausage, or as a comforting vegetarian meal on its own.
