1. Prepare the brownie base
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
2. Add the dry ingredients
Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt.
Stir until just combined—avoid overmixing to keep the brownies fudgy.
Fold in chocolate chips if using.
3. Bake
Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly soft.
Allow the brownies to cool completely before adding the chocolate coating.
4. Make the chocolate coating
Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together using a double boiler or microwave in 20-second intervals.
Stir until perfectly smooth and glossy.
5. Pour and set
Pour the melted chocolate over the cooled brownies, spreading evenly with a spatula.
Refrigerate for 30–60 minutes until the chocolate is firmly set.
6. Slice and enjoy
Lift the brownies from the pan using the parchment edges.
Cut into bars—small squares, long rectangles, or thick bakery-style chunks.
