Ingredients
For the Doughnut Holes:
3 tablespoons whole milk
3 tablespoons boiling water
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
8 oz all-purpose flour (approx. 2 cups; weighing is recommended)
1 1/2 oz granulated sugar (about 3 tablespoons)
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 oz unsalted butter, softened but not melted
A pinch of salt
Oil for frying (enough to fill a few inches of a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot)
For the Glaze:
1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
4 tablespoons hot water (adjust as needed for consistency)
